In this post we visualize all-cause deaths in 2020 versus the minimum and maximum monthly deaths from 2010 to 2019.
In many provinces no excess deaths were found. The data weren’t able to indicate if there was a trade-off between Covid and other causes (such as reduced automobile accidents or increased suicide).

Unfortunately in most jurisdictions reporting habits changed before or during the pandemic, only Quebec reported categories consistently.

The data was obtained from Statistics Canada Table 13-10-0785-01 on November 10, 2020, stored in MySQL and graphed using Matplotlib in Python.
